‘Witch’ Terrifies Britain’s Got Talent Judges With a Horrifying Maggot Trick

A mysterious witch left the Britain’s Got Talent judges recoiling in horror after unleashing a gruesome surprise involving maggots and cockroaches — but despite the unsettling spectacle, the act still secured a unanimous vote to advance.

The latest series of Britain’s Got Talent was airing on Saturday nights on ITV and ITV Hub, with Ant & Dec returning as hosts. David Walliams, Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden made up the judging panel.

Among the performers taking the stage was a mysterious act known as The Witch, who approached the judges carrying a bag of apples.

The Witch placed an apple in each of Amanda Holden’s hands before asking Simon Cowell to choose one. Simon selected the apple in her right hand — a decision that set up a disturbing twist.

Without warning, the apple in Amanda’s other hand burst open, releasing a mass of maggots and cockroaches that spilled across the judges’ desk.

Before the panel could fully react, The Witch vanished in a flash of light, leaving the judges staring at the mess and an apparently empty stage.

Amanda admitted that the performance had frightened her, but she was also intrigued by what might come next.

“I was scared to death but I’d quite like to see what else is going to happen in the future,” she said.

Alesha Dixon was equally impressed, although she was unwilling to return to her seat at the desk.

“I thought the act was actually brilliant,” she remarked.

Despite the unsettling finale and the maggot-covered desk, The Witch won the support of all four judges, earning four yes votes and a place in the next round.

The Witch was among several performers featured in that week’s auditions.

Pupils from Manchester Communication Primary Academy entertained the panel with a sketch in which they impersonated the Britain’s Got Talent judges and hosts Ant & Dec.

The episode also featured singer Linda John Pierre, who performed Jocelyn Brown’s “Somebody Else’s Guy,” alongside 17-year-old singer-songwriter Honey Scott and performer Jerry Bakewell, who presented himself as a “Mexican wrestler.”

Under the competition’s rules, contestants need at least three yes votes from the four judges to progress to the next stage, bringing them closer to the live shows.

Five contestants can also receive a Golden Buzzer, which sends them directly through to the live stages.

Britain’s Got Talent 2022 was airing on Saturday nights on ITV and ITV Hub, with performers competing for a place on the bill of the Royal Variety Performance and a £250,000 cash prize.

For The Witch, the disturbing stunt proved enough to win over the entire panel — even if the judges were left with a scene they were unlikely to forget in a hurry.
