“HE RAN TOWARD THE GUNFIRE… WHILE EVERYONE ELSE WAS TRYING TO ESCAPE.” As terror unfolded inside the Islamic Center of San Diego, Amin Abdullah made a split-second choice that would save lives — and cost him his own. The father of eight, described by loved ones as gentle, humble, and deeply devoted to his community, reportedly stepped directly into danger to shield children trapped in the chaos. Witnesses say the security guard refused to back away, even as panic tore through the building. Now, a grieving city is calling him a hero. “The nicest man you’ll ever meet. May Allah bless you,” one tearful mourner wrote, as tributes poured across social media from devastated friends, neighbors, and worshippers still struggling to process the horror.

A security guard at the Islamic Center of San Diego is being hailed for his “heroic actions” during Monday’s deadly shooting rampage that left five people dead, including two teenage suspects.

Police said the guard, who is a father of eight, helped save many lives as chaos erupted inside the mosque and school campus.

Community members have identified the security guard as “Amin.”

Dozens of people flooded the social media comments of Amin Abdullah, mourning the loss a “true hero who gave his life to protect others.”

“The nicest man you’ll ever meet,” another user said. “May Allah bless you.”

While police haven’t independently confirmed Abdullah was a victim, authorities confirmed he “played a pivotal role in assisting, this could have been worse.”

”We do believe the security guard was able to help at least minimize the situation to the front area of the mosque,” San Diego police chief Scott Wahl officer added.

”His actions were heroic, he saved lives today.

“The heroic actions of the officers and deputies are beyond belief. To run toward gunfire without asking questions is remarkable.”

Authorities said officers swarmed the Islamic Center within four minutes of the first emergency calls, launching what police described as a fast-moving and “dynamic” response.

“No community should ever have to go through this,” chef Wahl said.

Authorities identified five deceased individuals, including the two teenage suspects. Three others killed were associated with the Islamic Center, officials said.

Police said the suspects died from self-inflicted wounds.
