Prince Harry has reportedly offered a glimpse into what his new life in Britain could look like after returning to the UK with Meghan Markle and their two children—but his choice of words has left some royal fans far from impressed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived back in Britain on August 26, landing in Birmingham on a private jet from California with Archie and Lilibet.

The family is reportedly preparing for a new chapter in the UK, with the Cotswolds said to be their preferred base and their children potentially attending schools in the area.

But while Meghan has been linked with a possible return to acting, Harry appears to have a rather different role in mind for himself.

Harry calls himself a ‘full-time dad’

According to The Times, Harry has indicated that he intends to embrace life as a stay-at-home father.

During a public appearance on rugby star Joe Marler’s podcast, Joe Marler Will See You Now, Harry described his occupation as “full-time dad.”

The description quickly attracted attention online, with some royal critics questioning whether the phrase accurately reflected the reality of the Sussexes’ family life.

Some pointed out that the couple have previously employed household staff and that their children are expected to attend school during the day.

One critic wrote on X:

“‘Staying at home dad’? You still have nannies, housekeepers, chefs and gardeners. The kids are at school until mid-afternoon. Watching Archie play rugby once a week does not make you a stay-at-home dad. That’s not how it works, hun.”

Another reaction was considerably shorter—and much more blunt:

“Haz a stay home dad—- no F****** way…”

The comments highlight the divide between those who see Harry’s description as a straightforward reflection of his role as a parent and those who believe his privileged circumstances make the label inappropriate.

Harry still has plenty of work beyond parenting

Not everyone agrees that Harry’s life in Britain will simply revolve around being at home with his children.

Despite stepping down as a working royal, the Duke remains involved with several charitable and advocacy projects.

He has continued his association with the Invictus Games, the international sporting event he founded for wounded, injured and sick military personnel and veterans.

Harry also founded Travalyst, an initiative focused on encouraging more sustainable travel, and serves as an ambassador for organizations including WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

That means his description of himself as a “full-time dad” does not necessarily suggest that he plans to abandon his existing commitments.

Instead, it could simply reflect the increasingly family-focused role he expects to play while living in Britain.

Meghan could return to acting

Harry and Meghan’s move could also mark a new professional chapter for the Duchess.

Meghan stepped away from acting in 2017, before marrying Harry the following year.

Recent reports have suggested that she could consider taking on acting roles again, although the details of any potential return remain unclear.

The contrast between the pair’s reported plans is notable: while Meghan could potentially return to the profession she left behind, Harry has presented himself as focusing more heavily on family life.

Are Harry and Meghan returning permanently?

Despite the attention surrounding their arrival, there is still uncertainty about exactly what the Sussexes’ British future will look like.

Harry and Meghan formally stepped back from royal duties after relocating to the United States and are not expected to resume official working-royal roles.

Their return to Britain therefore does not automatically mean a return to the Royal Family’s official schedule.
