Meghan Markle shared a sweet glimpse into her birthday celebration at home with Prince Harry.
Meghan celebrated turning 45 on Tuesday, Aug. 4. She shared a series of Instagram Stories about how she was spending her birthday, beginning with a black-and-white photo of herself jumping into the pool while holding onto balloons. “Thank you for the birthday love,” she captioned the snap.
On the subsequent slide, Meghan included a video of herself dancing in her kitchen while listening to the “Happy Birthday” song as food sizzles on the stove. In the background, her husband, the Duke of Sussex, 41, is heard humorously saying, “Oh, dear,” as she laughs.
In the video clip, Meghan wears a white T-shirt emblazoned with “It’s Giving Mrs.” paired with white lounge pants and a colorful birthday headband.
In the third slide, the couple was heard attempting to get their two dogs, black lab Pula and beagle Mia, to wear tiny birthday party hats in Meghan’s honor, as Prince Harry asks the dogs calmly to sit and stay for the photo op.

Meghan shares a birthday with Harry’s late great-grandmother, the Queen Mother Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, who was born on Aug. 4, 1900, and lived to be 101, PEOPLE previously reported. The Queen Mother was the mother of the late Queen Elizabeth, who died in 2022 at 96.
In his 2023 memoir, Spare, the prince recalled the moment that his father, King Charles, realized that his new daughter-in-law was born on the same day as his grandmother. The family did not make the connection until a few months after the couple’s May 2018 wedding, when they were visiting Charles at the Castle of Mey in Scotland.

“The bond between Meg and Pa, always strong, grew even stronger during that weekend. One night, over pre-dinner cocktails, Fred Astaire playing in the background, it emerged that Meg shared a birthdate with Pa’s favorite person: Gan-Gan,” Harry wrote in the book. “ ‘Amazing,’ Pa said with a smile.”
