Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank Reveal Newborn Daughter’s Name in Tribute to Late Queen
Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have announced the name of their newborn daughter, sharing that the moniker pays a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and draws from both English and Portuguese history.

Welcoming Adelaide Elizabeth Annina
The couple, who welcomed their third child on August 3, 2026, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, revealed their daughter will be named Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.
In a heartfelt post shared on Instagram, accompanied by a string of new family photos—including one of older brothers August and Ernest playing with their baby sister—Eugenie wrote: “We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts. Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home.”
The name Adelaide—of German origin meaning “noble”—was inspired in part by Queen Adelaide, the wife of William IV, as well as Maria Adelaide of Portugal, a revered 19th-century philanthropist known for her dedication to the poor. The baby’s middle name, Elizabeth, directly honors Eugenie’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, while Annina holds personal significance for the family.
Family and Lineage
Baby Adelaide was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces and arrives as the 15th in line to the British throne, shifting her great-uncle, Prince Edward, down to 16th place. She is the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the third to be born since her passing in 2022.
The birth marks a unique chapter for the family, occurring overseas in Lisbon, where Eugenie and Jack have spent significant time over the past four years due to Jack’s professional commitments in property development south of the capital. Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles and other members of the Royal Family were delighted to learn of the safe arrival of the new baby girl.
