Three Members of Same Family Die in Choppy Waters Off West Sussex Beach; Young Girl Fighting for Life
A tragic summer holiday incident in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, has claimed the lives of three members of the same family—a man, a woman, and a teenage girl—after they got into difficulty while swimming in choppy seas.

Emergency services, including eight ambulances, two air ambulances, coastguard rescue teams, and multiple lifeboats, rushed to the beach near Shoreham Fort shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday following reports from fishermen that four people were struggling in the water.
A fisherman managed to pull one of the children to safety before authorities arrived. Despite the intensive efforts of paramedics and medical personnel at the scene, the man, woman, and teenage girl were pronounced dead. A second, younger girl was pulled from the water in critical condition and rushed to the hospital, where she remains overnight fighting for her life.

Sussex Police confirmed that all four individuals were members of the same family and that next of kin have been notified. Chief Superintendent James Collis stated that investigators believe the family entered the water from the land for a swim before being overwhelmed by strong tides and rough, south-westerly waves.
Local residents reported that the family had been camping in tents near the harbour front for roughly two weeks prior to the accident. Road closures were enacted along the A259 Brighton Road, and police maintained a cordon as marine and forensic units investigated the scene.
