ARGENTINA boss Lionel Scaloni was so emotional after beating Egypt he couldn’t finish his post-match interview.
Scaloni struggled for words when talking to home broadcaster TyC Sports pitchside at full-time.
His side had just completed one of the most remarkable World Cup turnarounds of ALL-TIME.
Argentina were 2-0 down with just over 10 minutes of normal time to go and heading to a shock exit in the last-16 before Cristian Romero‘s header sparked a dramatic comeback.
Lionel Messi equalised barely four minutes later and then Enzo Fernandez headed in a remarkable third in the 93rd minute.
Emotions boiled over on the touchline as Egyptian players and staff protested a potential penalty decision moments before Fernandez went up the other end to score.
And a stunned Scaloni couldn’t keep things together either as he wiped his eyes live on air and then proceeded to apologise, tapping the interviewer on the arm, and walking off.
He shook his head and left swiftly to try and make sense of a truly historic World Cup moment.
It wasn’t the only notable interview in Atlanta as Egypt goalscorer Mostafa Zico cried and claimed: “The referee wasn’t good, he was unfair.
“His injustice was clear. He persecuted us from the start of the match. He doesn’t want us to win.
“It was a rigged game. It wasn’t our fault. That referee… it seems like this match was rigged.
“We were winning 2-0, and he kept coming at us.
“Congratulations to Argentina on another World Cup, it seems.”
Zico had a goal ruled out in the second half when his team were 1-0 up.
It proved controversial after VAR spotted a shirt pull and picked out a foul from the other end of the pitch earlier in the move.
Egypt went on to double their lead shortly after anyway but were left to protest another call by Uefa ref Francois Letexier in stoppage time.
He let a tussle with Mo Salah in the box slide as Argentina countered and found their winner.
Egypt boss Hossam Hassan, who was among those booked after remonstrating with Letexier, fumed: “I will say what’s on my mind regardless of consequences.
“This was clearly a rigged match and the whole world saw it.
“And I want to say one more thing: if they want Argentina to win this World Cup so badly why go to the bother of calling everyone else to come and play in it?”
Scaloni eventually faced the press and said: “What we have done today is as good as anything we have achieved in the past with this team.
“I cried because I am very emotional. But it is true that this team will never abandon the Argentine people.
“I suffered as much as any fan but that is why I am a coach, to love through these moments.
“And that’s what I talk about with my coaching staff. For all of us who play football, these emotions are incredible.”
