Beautician, 27, dies after ‘doctor gave her wrong drug’ during childbirth in epidural blunde
A BEAUTICIAN has died after a doctor allegedly injected her with the wrong drug during labour in a horrifying mix-up.
Anna Malova, 27, suffered “severe convulsions”, brain damage and four heart attacks after she was repeatedly injected with a blood clotting drug instead of an epidural painkiller.
Miraculously, her daughter was born safely via a c-section.
But Anna fell into a coma after the injections and died soon after in a Russian hospital.
The 27-year-old messaged friends in increasing distress as what she thought was pain relief failed to work.
She wrote: “I’m having wild pain, I can’t…. This is a nightmare.”
One of her heartbreaking final messages was: “I’ll try to survive.”
Anna is survived by husband Ivan Malov, 36, newborn girl Arina and a 5-year-old boy.
At first, investigators thought Anna had had a rare reaction to epidural anaesthetic drugs.
But a probe has since revealed the mum of two was mistakenly given repeated doses of tranexamic acid, used to stop bleeding and tackle blood clots.
This did nothing to relieve the pain and caused her to fall into a coma and suffer four cardiac arrests.
Now Anna’s husband Ivan is raising Anna’s children with help from his mother Valentina, 59.
A criminal case into “medical negligence” has been launched, but investigators are yet to identify the doctor who allegedly injected Anna with the wrong drug.
In an emotional tribute widower Ivan wrote: “You were the best moment in my life for me, you gave me wonderful children.
“I miss you so much, I so want to come home, hug you, kiss you…
“I want this terrible dream to end. I opened my eyes, and you are lying, looking at me and smiling, but unfortunately I do not wake up.
“Every morning I open my eyes, and you are not next to me.”
Ivan later posted: “Today is going to be a tough day for me.
“When I get my thoughts together, I want to tell my son, [5], that his mother is gone.
“I have no idea how to say it.
Lawyer Danil Berdichevsky said: “We await the main, second forensic medical examination, which will answer our most important question — whose actions were directly responsible for Anna’s death.”
