Earl Spencer appeared to quietly approve of Meghan Markle’s latest controversial move, it has been claimed. The Duchess of Sussex recently sparked backlash after she shared pictures from her break at Althorp, where her family visited to pay their respects to Princess Diana’s resting place.

Meghan shared a series of photographs from the Sussexes’ summer holiday in Europe, which included stops in Portugal and Britain. Despite the duchess and her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, not making any public appearances during Prince Harry’s trip to the UK last month, one of Meghan’s snaps sparked criticism. The picture showed Lilibet walking through formal gardens behind her brother and father in the distance.

Fans and critics were not impressed with Meghan sharing such a private photograph; however, Charles Spencer, who is thought to have spent time with the Sussexes, made a key move this week which reportedly shows where his loyalties lie.

According to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, there was a “little-noticed” response from Lord Spencer this week that many fans may have missed.

His wife, Cat, shared a new picture “Today, @charles.earl.spencer took me to see the grave of his brother, John Spencer, who died just after birth on January 12th 1960.

“He was buried in a quiet corner of the church of St Mary Magdalen, Sandringham, next to their grandfather. A few years ago, Charles had John’s headstone restored.”

According to Mr Eden, there could have been “no clearer way for Earl Spencer to spell out that he approved of Meghan’s social media posts from Althorp”.

Meghan’s post did not include any pictures from the family’s private meeting with the King and Queen at Highgrove House.
