Meghan Markle Faces Questions Over How Archie and Lilibet Fit Into Her Public Image

Meghan Markle has recently shared a growing number of photos of Archie and Lilibet on social media, particularly since the Sussex family returned to the UK. The shift has drawn attention from royal commentators, including Allison Boshoff, who believes the children are becoming an increasingly important part of the public image Meghan is building.

According to Boshoff, the more frequent appearances of 7-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Lilibet are notable because the two children had been largely absent from Meghan’s Instagram for several months. Earlier this year, much of the attention was instead focused on her lifestyle brand, As Ever.

Archie and Lilibet Suddenly Become More Visible

During the first few months of the year, Meghan rarely shared pictures of her children. Boshoff noted that from around January through May, Archie and Lilibet were barely featured in Meghan’s public content, while Harry also appeared relatively infrequently.

Speaking on the September 15 episode of The Royalist podcast, Boshoff suggested that the change indicates Meghan is now taking greater control over how she presents herself publicly.

One of the examples she highlighted was a photo of Meghan with Lilibet at their home in Montecito, California, before Meghan travelled to Switzerland for a speaking engagement.

Then, in July, Meghan shared a series of photographs from family trips to Portugal and England, with Archie and Lilibet appearing more prominently than they had earlier in the year.

The shift continued into September. On September 13, Meghan posted a video capturing the family’s time in the English countryside. The footage showed Harry with the children outdoors, Lilibet riding a bicycle, Archie running nearby and the family enjoying time together fishing.

On September 15, to mark Harry’s 42nd birthday, Meghan shared more family photographs. The images showed Harry with Archie and Lilibet taking part in various outdoor activities, including skiing, cycling and archery.

Why Are the Children Becoming Part of the Focus?

According to Allison Boshoff, the increased presence of Archie and Lilibet is connected to the image Meghan is now trying to project.

Boshoff believes Meghan has been placing greater emphasis on portraying herself as a mother and homemaker, rather than focusing exclusively on her role as an entrepreneur and her commercial projects.

She argued that the children have therefore become an important part of the way Meghan presents herself publicly. If Meghan is positioning herself around motherhood and family life, Boshoff suggested, featuring her children naturally becomes part of that image.

Boshoff also stressed that this approach is not unique to Meghan. She noted that including children in social-media content is common among influencers who build their personal brands around family and lifestyle.

The New Images Show a Different Side of Life in Britain

Meghan’s decision to share more family moments also comes as the Sussexes spend more time in Britain.

Archie and Lilibet have started the new school year in the UK following the family’s return. According to sources cited by People, establishing a stable routine and schooling arrangements for the children has been one of the family’s priorities.

The photographs Meghan has shared have largely focused on everyday family experiences: walking through nature, fishing, outdoor activities and spending time together.

The content presents a noticeably different picture from the period when Meghan’s public focus was more heavily centred on As Ever and her business ventures.

However, the increase in family posts does not necessarily mean Meghan has abandoned her approach to protecting the children’s privacy. The recent images have still been carefully selected and primarily show family moments rather than revealing extensive details about Archie and Lilibet’s private lives.

A Shift in How Meghan Presents Herself

The most notable change is the contrast between the two periods.

Earlier this year, Archie and Lilibet were rarely included in Meghan’s public content, while As Ever occupied a much more prominent position. Since the summer, however, family photographs have appeared more frequently, particularly following trips around Europe and the family’s return to Britain.

For Boshoff, the change suggests that Archie and Lilibet now play a larger role in the public image Meghan has chosen to present.

The latest photographs therefore do more than show Archie and Lilibet enjoying time with their parents in Britain. They also reflect a noticeable change in the way Meghan is choosing to share her family life with the public.
