The latest controversy came after Uganda initially announced that it was withdrawing from the 2027 Invictus Games.

The decision was linked to Palace guidance reaffirming Harry and Meghan’s status as private, non-working royals. Uganda’s General Muhoozi Kainerugaba had said the country would not participate in an event without King Charles’ approval.

Uganda later reversed its decision following a private conversation involving the King’s principal private secretary, Sir Clive Alderton, who clarified that Charles supported Uganda’s participation in the Invictus Games.

The episode nevertheless added another layer of tension to an already complicated situation surrounding Harry, the Royal Family and the Sussexes’ return to Britain.

Levin also argued that Harry and Meghan could show greater consideration toward the King, particularly given his age and health, and alleged that their actions were placing significant pressure on him.

Jobson, meanwhile, argued that Charles had little choice but to clarify Harry and Meghan’s position.

In his view, the Sussexes had begun pushing the boundaries of their status in Britain, making a formal statement from the Palace necessary.

He also suggested there could be a wider agenda operating behind the scenes, describing the situation as part of what he believes is a broader effort to challenge the King.

However, these claims remain the commentators’ interpretations rather than confirmed evidence of a coordinated plan by Harry and Meghan.
