Sarah Ferguson is reportedly preparing to return to Britain after spending months away from the UK amid a series of controversies surrounding the Royal Family and its links to Jeffrey Epstein.

The former Duchess of York, 66, is said to have secured a six-bedroom property in the Home Counties, reportedly costing around £10,000 a week to rent.

The exact location of the property has not been disclosed, although the Home Counties generally refers to counties surrounding London, including Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey.

According to reports, Ferguson could move into the property as early as Monday, August 31, after removal vans were reportedly seen collecting some of her belongings from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s home in Sandringham earlier this week.

‘The right time to get back to her life’

Ferguson is understood to have left Britain at the beginning of 2026 as controversy surrounding the Royal Family’s connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein intensified.

Her former husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was ordered by King Charles to leave Royal Lodge, leaving Ferguson to make her own arrangements for accommodation.

Now, according to a source quoted by The Sun, she has been considering a return to Britain for some time while searching for a suitable new home.

“She’s had her eyes on a return for some time but it takes time to find the right new house,” the source said.

“She hasn’t had to worry about accommodation for 20 years as she had Royal Lodge with Andrew. Now’s the right time to get back to her life.”

The source also suggested that the increased attention surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could allow Ferguson to return with less public scrutiny.

“With everyone looking out for Harry and Meghan she thought she could slip back under the radar after seven months away,” the source claimed.

The remarks and reported plans have not been independently confirmed by Ferguson.

Ferguson has kept a low profile

Ferguson has spent much of 2026 away from the public spotlight.

She voluntarily stopped using the Duchess of York title in October 2025, following her former husband’s loss of his titles.

At the end of March, she was also stripped of the Freedom of the City of York, her final civic honour.

The developments came as scrutiny intensified over the Royal Family’s historical connections to Epstein.

Ferguson’s charity, Sarah’s Trust, subsequently announced that it would close following the release of the Epstein files earlier this year. Six of her commercial companies also face dissolution.

Since then, she has largely stayed out of the public eye and reportedly declined several interview requests.

Ferguson’s whereabouts in recent months have attracted considerable speculation.

She was previously reported to have stayed at the Paracelsus Recovery luxury wellness clinic in Switzerland.
