Prince Harry appears ‘much happier’ whenever he returns to Britain, royal expert says

Prince Harry has appeared noticeably more at ease during his recent visits to the UK, according to a royal correspondent who has observed the Duke of Sussex at several engagements.

Harry recently returned to Britain with Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, following six years of living in the United States. The family is expected to remain in the country for an extended period.

Expert notices a change in Harry

Speaking on The Royals with Roya and Kate podcast, Rosamund Urwin, chief news correspondent at The Sunday Times, suggested that Harry may have grown bored after spending almost seven years away from Britain.

Roya Nikkhah, the newspaper’s chief royal correspondent, agreed and said the Duke consistently seems happier when he is back in his home country.

“He has looked much happier, as you touched on earlier, every time he comes back,” she said.

Nikkhah referred to Harry’s latest visit, which took place during an especially challenging week for him. After delivering a speech about the Invictus Games at Chatham House, the Duke learned that he had lost claims in his legal case against Associated Newspapers Limited.

His trip was also overshadowed by a public disagreement involving Buckingham Palace over whether he would stay at a royal residence.

Despite those difficulties, Nikkhah said Harry’s mood appeared to improve as the visit progressed.

“At the end of the week, he sort of pulled it back up and was on great form, doing his stuff,” she recalled.

‘Basically in his element’

Harry subsequently attended Invictus-related activities in Birmingham before appearing at an event for Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

Nikkhah described watching the Duke take part in yoga with children, saying he was “basically in his element”.

During the visit, Harry also reunited with King Charles alongside his children. The monarch reportedly had not seen Archie and Lilibet for more than four years.

“So, however difficult things get for him, when he is back on home soil these days, he just does look a lot happier,” Nikkhah added.

Sussex family begins extended UK stay

Harry and Meghan arrived at Birmingham Airport on Wednesday after reportedly travelling from California aboard a private jet. Their spokesperson declined to discuss the journey, citing privacy and security considerations.

“This is not something we would comment on,” the spokesperson said.

Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, have reportedly been enrolled in British schools ahead of the new academic year. The family is also said to be considering establishing a home in the Cotswolds.

Reports claim the Sussexes brought their dogs, Mia and Pula, to Britain, while their chickens remained at the family’s Montecito property.

Harry and Meghan stepped back from their positions as senior working royals in 2020 and later relocated to the United States. Since then, they have spoken publicly about their experiences within the Royal Family.

Although they have now returned to Britain, the couple are not expected to resume official royal duties. They have not publicly explained the reasons behind their reported decision to move back to the UK.
