Martha Stewart didn’t hold back when asked for her thoughts about Meghan Markle’s Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan.

“If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show,” Stewart, 85, told People in an interview published on August 5. “It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there.”

Stewart also revealed that she recently attended a dinner party with the Duchess of Sussex.

“I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night,” she said. “We were both guests at a dinner party in California. And she had just gotten back from the palace. I didn’t talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it.”

This isn’t the first time Stewart has weighed in on Meghan’s lifestyle venture. In a 2025 interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, she said, “Meghan, I don’t really know very well, and I hope she knows what she’s talking about.”

“Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important,” she added.

In that same interview, however, Stewart praised another celebrity in the lifestyle space: Gwyneth Paltrow.

“Gwyneth has been very successful,” she said. “She created quite an interesting body of businesses. She’s admired. She won an Oscar for heaven’s sake as an actress! She’s pretty powerful.”

Elsewhere in the Yahoo Lifestyle interview, Stewart offered advice for anyone hoping to follow in her footsteps: “I don’t mind. Good luck.”

Despite Stewart’s critiques, Meghan’s lifestyle series has earned awards recognition. In July, With Love, Meghan, which premiered in March 2025, earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Lifestyle Program category.

“A huge congratulations to the amazing crew, producers, and team who worked on ‘With Love, Meghan’ on @netflix,” Meghan wrote on Instagram. “We are nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Series!”

This nomination marked Meghan’s first Emmy nod. The series, which will not be returning for another season, followed the former actress as she made dishes like caramelized onion tarts and entertained celebrity guests such as Chrissy Teigen, Jay Shetty, and Mindy Kaling.
