The lone holdout juror whose decision resulted in a mistrial in Lindsay Clancy’s Massachusetts murder case has spoken publicly for the first time, insisting he never had doubts about his belief that Clancy was criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children.
Michael P. Desronvil, 48, faced intense online scrutiny after the six-week trial ended in a 11-1 deadlock. While the other 11 jurors supported finding Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity, Desronvil maintained that prosecutors had presented enough evidence to show she knew what she was doing.
“I didn’t have any doubts,” Desronvil said in a statement to NewsNation on Thursday. He said that when he attempted to explain different theories during deliberations, he was repeatedly interrupted and that his questions were interpreted as signs he was wavering.
“Based on all the physical evidence, key witnesses, and what the prosecution presents, I thought it was enough proof that she knew exactly what she was doing and planned,” he added.
His account conflicts with statements from some of his fellow jurors, who previously described him as having acknowledged reasonable doubt while still refusing to join them in finding Clancy not criminally responsible. The disagreement ultimately prevented the jury from reaching the unanimous verdict required in the case.

Desronvil’s Lawyer Defends Him
The controversy surrounding Desronvil has intensified since his identity became public.
He has now retained attorney Edward Paltzik, who described his client as a “devoted father and man of God” and asked the public to pray for his safety.
Paltzik also issued an emphatic defense of Desronvil, calling him “an American Hero and Champion of Justice.” He said his client loves the United States, values the Constitution and supports President Donald Trump.
The attorney said Desronvil is currently staying at an undisclosed secure location in rural Northern New England after the intense backlash surrounding the case.
Paltzik has also warned that online fundraising pages claiming to raise money for Desronvil are unauthorized.

His Family Rejects Religion Speculation
Desronvil is from a large Haitian immigrant family that settled in Massachusetts in 1982. Family members, friends and neighbors have described the family as educated and well regarded, while reports say Desronvil has recently worked in pest control.
He is also a devout Catholic, prompting speculation that his religious beliefs influenced his position during deliberations.
The prosecution and its witnesses referenced the Catholic concept of “mortal sin” surrounding murder and suicide during the trial, adding fuel to that speculation.
But Desronvil’s brother rejected the idea that religion determined his brother’s decision.
“I don’t think religion had anything to do with it,” he previously told The Post, saying Desronvil simply examined the evidence and made his decision.

Claims of Political Bias
Desronvil has also reportedly suggested that his political views may have contributed to the backlash against him.
According to YouTuber Ray Marcel, who said he conducted an hour-long interview with Desronvil, the juror believes he may have been singled out because he is a Republican with conservative views.
Marcel said Desronvil believed other members of the jury were “activists” and claimed that eight jurors initially voted for a not-guilty verdict on the first day of deliberations.
Those claims came from Marcel’s account of his conversation with Desronvil and have not been independently established.
The YouTuber has also acted as a representative for Desronvil in communicating with the public, according to Paltzik.
Public Backlash After His Identity Was Revealed
Desronvil became the focus of an extraordinary online frenzy after his fellow jurors publicly discussed the deliberations and his identity was subsequently exposed.
The attention expanded after reports emerged about allegations from his past.
In 2021, Desronvil was arrested following allegations involving his then-wife and their crying infant. The charges were later dismissed, with reports stating his former wife did not testify because she feared losing custody of their children.
In 2025, he was accused of another altercation involving his teenage nephew. That incident resulted in a restraining order that was active while Desronvil was serving on the Clancy jury.
These allegations have raised questions online about how Desronvil was selected for jury duty, although the underlying accusations did not result in a conviction.
His finances have also attracted attention. NBC Boston reported that he was facing eviction proceedings after allegedly failing to pay roughly $12,000 in rent over several months.
His Family Says They Were Caught Off Guard
The scrutiny has extended beyond Desronvil himself, with relatives saying they have been harassed by reporters and true-crime followers searching for information about him.
One of his brothers said the family had been blindsided by the attention.
“Everyone thinks I’m Michael, I’m not Michael,” he said, according to The Post.
The family member also said relatives had not been in contact with Desronvil since the alleged 2025 incident involving his nephew and were overwhelmed by the sudden media attention. Other reporting has described the family as fearful and unable to go about their normal lives amid the attention.
Judge William Sullivan subsequently extended an order keeping the jurors’ identities sealed, citing concerns about potential harm. The order does not prevent jurors from voluntarily identifying themselves, however, and Desronvil has now chosen to do so publicly.
Desronvil Has Left the Area
The holdout juror’s new lawyer says he is now in a secure location.
A local mechanic told The Post that Desronvil had recently left the area with his new wife, who had reportedly visited the business shortly before.
“She said the media has been crazy and they’re gonna lay low for a while,” the mechanic said.
Paltzik subsequently confirmed that Desronvil had left the area.
“He is presently safe and sound at an undisclosed secure location in a rural area of Northern New England,” the attorney said.
For now, the mistrial has left the case unresolved. Prosecutors have not publicly announced whether Lindsay Clancy will face a retrial, while Desronvil’s decision to break his silence has added another layer to a case that has already drawn extraordinary public attention.
